One of the most famous songs of the Christmas Season.The Text was written by Joseph Moor in 1816 and the Melody was written by Franz Gruber in 1818. It was first performed on Christmas Eve, 1818 in a tiny church in Austria with a guitar as accompaniment because the church organ was broken.
This version in both original german and english was arranged by Michele Cook and recorded by MicheMalou for their November, 2004 release entitled "Snow On Snow".
