Yanzu and his father Erxiang (Sun Xing) were on their travels when the latter fell in love with He Muying (Lin Meizhen) in Chile. However, both were unable to be together as they had their respective families to consider. Not long after, Muying contracted cancer and passed away, leaving behind her only daughter JoJo.
Erxiang brought the young girl back home with him, much to the wrath of his wife Zheng Xinyun (Tu Shanni), who threw the trio out of the house. Erxiang had no choice but to send JoJo to an orphanage to appease Xinyun. Yanzu vowed to himself that he would one day bring JoJo back home.
Years passed and Yanzu and JoJo have both grown up. JoJo (Ruby Lin) now goes by the name Li Yiqiao.
Yanzu, with the help of his remorseful mother, begins searching for JoJo. Xia Xiangyi (Yin Yue), Yiqiao’s best friend in the orphanage, is mistaken for JoJo and welcomed warmly back to the Zhao family.
Reluctant to let go for this long-awaited familial bliss, Xiangyi begs Yiqiao to continue letting her use JoJo’s identity on account of her ill health. Yiqiao agrees and Xiangyi slowly falls in love with the handsome Yanzu.
But all is threatened when Yiqiao and Erxiang coincidentally returns to Chile; Erxiang realises Yiqiao is in fact JoJo and is adamant on confronting Xiangyi and stopping her marriage with Yanzu. Cornered, Xiangyi threatens Erxiang, who suffers a stroke in his huffing fury. The unrepentant Xiangyi furthermore hides Erxiang’s medication in Xinyu’s purse and puts the blame on her.
The Zhao family is thrown into chaos. Will Xiangyi’s devious plot come to fruit? Will Yiqiao and Yanzu forever be separated?
