Probably noisy because the recording was a home recording made off an old radio show using aluminum blank discs used for home recording. When those were played with steel needles they wore out fast. But any airchecks from around 1930 are almost non-existent. This one has a great solo by Frank Trumbauer, one of the major jazz musicians of the 20's as you know. This home recording contains an previously unknown solo by him and even if sound is noisy it still is a real piece of history as you say. All fans of Bix and Tram should like this recording.
