The German painter and sculptor Anselm Kierer has made his debut as opera director,set and costume designer. Au Commencement ( At the Beginning ) opened at the Bastille Opera in Paris,marking the twentieth anniversary of its opening. Kiefer chose texts set to music by the Munich composer,Joerg Widmann.
