We saw the same thing in California on the 4th of July. Two orange red glowing objects hovering and then slowly circling in a random pattern. Then each moved away slowly until it just disappeared from sight. They moved slowly and in a pattern that no airplane or helicopter would follow. And the glow emitted from them was too bright to be a plane/helicopter. Also there was no sound coming from them. Either type of aircraft with a light that strong would have to be pretty close and you would definitely hear some type of engine noise. These were totally silent.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who saw this! I wish I had thought of running to get the binoculars though.

I saw something very similar on the 4th in Washington state, near the Covington area. We were at a friend's BBQ/party, and saw 4 of these glowing objects appear from the east. They were moving laterally and vertically in a smooth motion. They were glowing an orange color. It was strange as they hovered stationery for a bit, then all moved in random patterns. They were visible to us for about a period of 3 to 4 minutes. All eventually disappeared completely out of thin air. There were about 5 eyewitnesses who saw this, and we could not explain what these objects were.

After seeing this, everyone was excited and we got binoculars. 30 minutes went by and we were cleaning up fireworks outside after midnight (Pacific time). Two more appeared! One just appeared out of thin air and hovered for a few minutes. The other appeared from the north. The one from the north moved and "met up" with the hovering one. They both hovered and moved a little bit before zipping away.

I was on the beach in Michigan (Harbert area) approximately the same time (10pm ish) when we spotted 4 glowing reddish lights. They were lined up 4 in a row, but they moved strange, not like airplanes can move, they were hovering, sort of 'floating' closer and further apart from each other. Two of them sort of just disappeared, then the two you have filed here moved closer together appearing to almost be on top of each other. They separated again and then the lights began getting smaller and smaller until they just disappeared. I am convinced these were not anything we can explain.
