Fred Adison (1908-1996, né Albert Lapeyrère) studied piano and violin, before buying a drum kit. Passionate about jazz, at the age of 18 he formed with some friends a combo comprising five musicians. Gradually, the band traveled all over France and finally settled in Paris in 1931. The band even managed to play the musical accompaniment of several silent short subjects and cinematographic sketches by Charles Chaplin. Meanwhile, the band waxed many records and became very successful with several hit songs: followed: "En cueillant la noisette", "Avec les pompiers", "Le petit train départemental", and "Quand un gendarme rit". Fred Adison and his band continued touring until the end of the 1950's in many cities, including performances in dance halls. This outstanding record features a dance band version of an operetta by Ralph Benatzky on a French libretto, "Deux sous de fleurs". It was made in 1933; I could not identify the great vocalist.

First time I hear Adison in dance tempo, instead of comical songs. Of course he also played on the soundtrack of Mistinguet's only talkie "Rigolboche"

Very nice. I enjoy learning more about the European artists of the first half of the 20th century.

Ginny, thank you very much for your lovely comment and the rating. When I post music in other languages than English the number of comments immediately drops. However, I insist on broadening the repertoire with lesser known music. I'm fond of that gorgeous and delicate sheet music myself!

Patrick, This is a nice recording indeed...I wonder if anyone will know the vocalist? Whoever it was had an amazing voice.
I love the sheet music posters. But the first poster is absolutely beautiful. I love the way her hair just seems to cascade into beautiful roses.
Such a tender view :-) And the last one is very very sweet.
A lovely posting and Thank You as always.
Five magical stars *****
