dangallegos, My friends, when told that I'm a recovering assaholic say, "Recovering, right..." So you are The Correct. I'm a bad troll here, though honest - this song sounds like trance on coffee to me. Well, off to check out Vivian Girls and Cymbals Eat Guitars - gotta keep up somehow, though with my walker (built in Klipsch's) is kinda slow. I actually understand some things; like my Italian exchange student, when asked to turn down his metal crapola, said, "But Pat, this is Metalica!" I'm like all the more reason, but he loved that group and considered them the equivalent of Blood on the Tracks or Eine Kleine Nachtmusic (hint, if you don't know what I'm talking about, for goodness sake risk it and at least listen - who knows, you might dig it and still dig Oceanlab, maybe, perhaps, though I can't imagine anyone doing so it is possible.

drcassiel - I agree with the vid, and hot girls!

I can't help my taste in music either, so I find it pretty offensive that you insult me for liking different music than yourself.

I watched it because it was the first video on the top of the page and I had hope. After all, I did the same with Michael Franti and Spearhead and found a group that is enjoyable (ie. more than one bass note). And late at New Year's Eve my kids put on Brittany loud downstairs and got everyone dancing, so there is a place in this world for all types of music, albeit that it's simply garbage, it still has a place, I concur.

I can't help your taste in music, can I? I was once young... too. Recently I played Jefferson Airplane, Moby Grape, and Velvet Underground. Having educated my ears, I know realize that the music I loved when I was 19, for the most part, sucks. Take VU for example. There's 3 good songs, that's it. "All Tomorrow's Parties," give me a break, it's just horrid.

Well, gotta go and yell and the darn five year olds. The dern kids are walking on MY lawn. Goldern kids anyway!! They had aughta be taught to be seen, not heard.

Pat, just because other people have DIFFERENT tastes in music than you doesn't mean that they have BAD taste. And even so, if you think I have bad taste that really doesn't change anything and it won't change the type of music I enjoy. Also, what are you doing watching this "eurotrash techno" video if you are so much better than it? Looks to me like you are just looking for conflict.

Also regarding your comment about this group being forgotten... You should probably do your research. Even if Oceanlab is ended soon (which is unlikely), Above & Beyond will be around for years. They were recently voted the 4th best DJs in the world by DJ Mag and only on the way up.

I really think you should gain some respect for people who are different than you.

patfromlogan's argument appears to be that this is not the kind of music he likes, therefore it must be trash. Apparently, this is a fairly broad brush, because he implies that he doesn't like any of "that pop stuff". Then this music wasn't written with you in mind, Pat. And I prefer to listen to my music without being high on "shrooms".
The one objective comment he makes is that this is part of a large indistinguishable techno music genre. I find some aspects of that accurate -- it has the standard heart-beat rhythm drumbeat that is omnipresent in current "club dance" music. But this is less non-stop than in most club music, and uses more variation in the background drums than most such music. (E.g., from a couples dance viewpoint, the standard club music is invariably Merengue only; this would make good Lindy Swing.) The lyrics are pleasant, and the lead singer has a beautifully melodic voice, with smooth transitions through the notes. This is a good song, and a good video.

Oh, so sorry to have an opinion... NOT! Perhaps you eat lots of X? Having been raised on Louis Armstrong and Bessie and Bach by dear old dad, I might just be a tad judgemental when faced with mindless repetitious boom boom boom overlaid with mediocre vocals. My folks had taste, and passed it on. As my brother said, "I like all kinds of music, except that pop stuff." Lots of modern music is good, from Drop Kick Murphies to Sage Francis to Angelique Kidjo - and in years to come people will respect and listen to them. This group will be forgotten.

Patfromlogan who the hell are you to judge others taste in music? That is the most pretentious, narcissistic, arrogant thing I have read in a while. Go listen to your music and leave others to do the same
