This is McKeesport's Spring Street, so named for the spring water that's eroded the pavement for decades.
It has a five-ton weight limit, which means fire trucks, buses and delivery vehicles can't use it.
Last week, on the recommendation of the city's engineers, council voted to close the street to all through traffic.
Fixing it is a big job -- one estimate pegs the cost at almost $1 million.
Councilman Darryl Segina disagrees --- he said it would be about half that.
But whatever the cost, Mayor Jim Brewster says the city doesn't have the money. And until it devises a solution, this shock-shattering shortcut is about to close.
