Arts.21 | Different Kind of Battle Takes Center Stage
  • 15 years ago
Munich native Roland Trescher is an expert on improvisational theater. In the courtyard of the Landestheater Detmold,he is reenacting the Battle of the Teutoburg Forest between Romans and the Germanic tribes – 2000 years after the event. The performance is open-ended,and the public is invited to decide the outcome. ARTS.21 also asks historian Alexander Demandt for his views on what would have happened if Varus, not Armenius, who is called Hermann in Germany, had won the battle.
