Germany celebrates its 60th birthday this year and DW-TV looks back at the country's early days. Many Germans were shocked by new music trends coming over from the US in the 1950s and preferred the comfort of their own much less raucous Schlager music. But plenty of others grabbed a partner and began a-rockin' and a-rollin'.
