The great orchestra featured in this post was an Edison house band, led by Melville Morris. It has nothing to do with its contemporary, homonym band led by Al Starita, recording for Columbia. Extremely little, or should I say nothing, is known about the Edison band. Even regarding leader Melville neither biographical data nor pictures are available. This is strange, since he knew a certain success as a composer (his best known song might be the Kangaroo Hop). I couldn't identify any personnel, I only found the recording year (1929). This composition contains several quotations of "Morning Mood" from Edvard Grieg's first Peer Gynt Suite.
