Iran targets the IDF nuclear site, and Israel asks the US for help

Iran is targeting the Dimona nuclear reactor in Israel as a target for missile attacks if war actually breaks out. Tehran's military simulated an attack during the Great Prophet 17 war games last week.

The Fars news agency, which is affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), published a video showing a mock-up of the Dimona nuclear site as the target of a simulated operation.

The Dimona reactor, officially known as the Shimon Peres Negev Nuclear Research Center, is characterized as a production center for weapons of mass destruction in the high-resolution video. A total of 16 ballistic missiles and five suicide drones were launched against mock targets in a simulated operation by the Iranian military.

Tensions have continued to escalate between Iran and Israel in recent weeks as nuclear negotiations between Tehran and world powers stalled in Vienna. Israel has vowed that if Iran's nuclear program reaches a stage approaching the production of atomic weapons, it will act regardless of the deal the United States and other world powers reached with Tehran.

An article published by the Jerusalem Post on Sunday said such Iranian threats were more important than ever. "A dangerous escalation in rhetoric. It is also related to Iran revealing aspects of its drone program and new technology," wrote the Israeli media.

In January 2012, Israeli media reported that the Jewish state's Atomic Energy Commission had decided to temporarily shut down the Dimona nuclear reactor, citing its vulnerability to attack from Iran. The main targets for Iran's long-range ballistic missiles are Israel and possibly United States military bases in the Middle East, as well as vital oil installations.

Israel has one of the most concentrated missile defense systems in the world, known as the Iron Dome. US bases are also defended by the Patriot missile defense system and other missile defense systems.

IRGC commander Major General Hossein Salami said on the final day of the Great Prophet 17 war games on Friday last week that the exercises carried a strong warning against threats made by Zionist regime officials. He said, "They must be careful not to make a mistake, and if they do, we will cut off their hands," threatening General Salami.

He said the only difference between a war game and a real attack on Israel was the change in the missile's angle and trajectory.

Meanwhile, Israel asked the United States (US) to supply more tank ammunition and tactical vehicles.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu wants to replenish the Zionist state's supplies amid the war in Gaza and Palestine and increasing tensions with Iran.

As quoted from Alarabiya News on Saturday, April 20, 2024, this request has just been submitted. The Wall Street Journal reports the US is considering a $1 billion request for 120mm tank ammunition, vehicles, and mortar shells.

This request also puts US President Joe Biden in a difficult position. This is because Biden has stated that ass
