Arkansas Blues - Climax Jazz Band 1991

This was after our band had been in existence for 20 years. When I look back at this today I’m filled with happiness that we had such a band and that it had reached this level of musicianship. All the members of the frontline had reached a certain maturity and creativity in their output and the fellows in the rhythm group were a solid basis to make that possible.
Bassist Chris did an a great vocal om this old standard that was played by many bands in the twenties and thirties.

I’m trying to remember where we learned it from. Probably from an old record of Ken Colyer who himself had found it in the huge 78 collection of his friend Brian Rust. Ken told us that he was allowed to take out and listen to the 78’s but was never allowed to place these back into the racks. Brian did not want to take a chance that some one would misfile these.
In the seventies Brian published two encyclopedias called Jazz and Ragtime Records (1897-1942). I have these copies and these are still an incredible source of information.

The 1991 band:
Bob Erwig cornet, Pete Sagermann trombone, Mick Lewis clarinet, Chris Daniels bass and vocal, Jack Vincken banjo and Jamie Aug drums.
