Doroteo "Joty" Baca and his family have been preserving Colonial Spanish Horses for almost 60 years in New Mexico. The family hopes to educate others about the historical and symbolic value of this rare breed and through the conservancy effort ensure their survival.

“These horses seem to have more understanding than other horses. When you train them and bond with them, they just love you. They’re just like big dogs.”
