Dongfeng even equipped it with a rotating dashboard like the McLaren 720S

Dongfeng has opened order books for its latest electric vehicle called eπ 007; prices start at just 159,000 yuan (about $22,400 at current exchange rates), which seems like a pretty affordable price for Chinese buyers. Additionally, early bird buyers will receive a special subsidy of 10,000 yuan (US$1,400) for their order, which they can apply to colours, optional extras, accessories or packages.

The eπ 007 is a stylish four-door electric fastback with a stylish and aerodynamic design with a low drag coefficient of only 0.209 Cd. Its front end looks similar to many other Chinese EVs, featuring slim LED daytime running lights and lower-positioned main headlamp clusters. The absence of a front grille is compensated by an angled crease that runs the width of the car.

Other notable elements of the design include recessed door handles, slim LED taillights and a retractable spoiler. Chinese customers even have the option of equipping the eπ 007 with Lamborghini-inspired scissor doors. These scissor doors are available as part of a special optional package for the top-end 620Pro and 540 Max models, priced at 22,000 yuan (US$3,100).

In terms of dimensions, the eπ 007 has a length of 4,880 mm (192 in), a width of 1,895 mm (74.6 in), a height of 1,460 mm (57.4 in), and a wheelbase of 2,915 mm (114.7 in).

Considering the car's starting price, one might expect the interior to lack comfort. However, this is not the case. There's a 15.6-inch infotainment screen in the middle of the dashboard, while in front of the driver is a swiveling 8.8-inch driving panel, a feature reminiscent of the McLaren 720S.

Dongfeng has gone the extra mile by equipping the eπ 007 with front 8-point massage seats, a 64-colour ambient lighting system, a premium audio setup with at least 20 speakers, handy 50W wireless charging and facial recognition for door unlocking. It also features a comprehensive array of 38 sensors that enable a variety of functions such as memory parking, remote control parking and the company's advanced driver assistance system.

eπ 007 will be available in both battery-powered and electric versions with increased range. The base 53-Pro BEV model has a 56.83 kWh battery pack, a rear electric motor with 215 hp (160 kW) and 229 lb-ft (310 Nm) of torque. It has a driving range of up to 530 km (329 miles) on a single charge and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 6.8 seconds.

The mid-range 620Pro model is equipped with a larger 70.26 kWh battery pack, 268 hp (200 kW) rear electric motor, and 236 lb-ft (320 Nm) of torque. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.8 seconds and offers an extended range of up to 620 km (385 miles) on a single charge.
