A man was narrowly saved after his foot became entangled in a hot air balloon rope and was drawn upwards into the sky while he was trapped hanging upside down.The incident unfolded near a shopping centre in Anhui, China, on the evening of January 6.Heart-stopping footage shows the man, who was not identified, being pulled several feet up in the air while dangling upside down with his leg caught in the rope of a hot air balloon as it was taking off.Horrified screams sounded off in the background as the man was in danger of flying off with the balloon.A woman could be heard saying: 'His foot is tied up; it's really frightening.'Several bystanders rushed to his rescue and pulled down on the rope as hard as they could to bring it back to the ground.They helped him break free of the rope and managed to save him unharmed.Witness Ms Wu told local media that around 6:30 pm on January 6, she and her friends were shopping at the Shanshui Outlet COCOcity mall.While passing through a square, they saw the young man whose foot was entangled in the hot air balloon rope, causing him to be lifted more than three feet high.She said: 'People nearby quickly rushed to help pull the rope, and the man was rescued in about seven to eight seconds.'She added that thankfully, the man was not hurt. At that time, there were no passengers on the hot air balloon, only a staff member responsible for the balloon.The next morning, a staff member at the service desk of the Shanshui Mall said that the hot air balloon ride event was organised by the sales department, and she was not clear about the specific situation.However, she had reported the incident to the leadership. Previously, another mall employee had local local media: 'The man is fine.'Later, a member of the sales department stated that the hot air balloon rides are free and mainly targeted at potential buyers. She added she was not aware of the details regarding the incident.
