Susumu Kobayashi's Fatal Crash @ Tamagawa 2022

Japanese hydroplane pilot Susumu Kobayashi, from Tokyo lost his life on Sunday, 12 January 2020, while competing at the Tamagawa Boat Race stadium in Fuchu, Tokyo, Japan, during a Kyōtei hydroplane racing meeting.

Kyōtei (Boat Race) is a distinctive form of hydroplane racing, introduced in Japan in April 1952, one of just four public sports (kōei kyōgi) in which gambling is allowed under Japanese law. The racing organisation Kyotei Promotion Association was renamed the Boat Race Promotion Association, in 2010.
