Tourists struck by lightning on popular Blue Mountains walking trail during electrical storm

Two people have been taken to hospital after being struck by lightening in the Blue Mountains, near Sydney, yesterday. It is believed that they were tourists from Canada caught in a freak storm near a popular lookout. An NSW Ambulance spokesman said two of the group of three, all in their 20s, were holding a metal railing on a walking track on Echo Point Road about 3:15pm yesterday, when a storm hit the region and a bolt of lightning hit them.
