00:00 There were 492 calls for help to the State Emergency Services overnight.
00:06 That included 25 rescues of people caught up in their cars in flash flooding.
00:11 Here in Pagewood in Sydney South, 30 of these townhouses behind me were flooded in the storm
00:17 and the SES say that expect much more of the same today and into the evening.
00:24 We are also expecting similar type of thunderstorms again today across a very large part of the state.
00:33 And as you mentioned, they can be very hard to predict where the severe thunderstorms
00:37 are going to occur and when you see them, they can produce isolated rainfalls of up to 200 mm.
00:44 Obviously on Christmas Day, a lot of people will be on the roads going around to visit
00:48 their family and friends.
00:49 But we do ask them to pay attention to the weather and that if they are out and about
00:55 during the severe thunderstorms, to drive to the conditions.
01:03 This morning the cleanup has wrapped up here in Pagewood but there are 40 other spots around
01:07 Sydney that are still having trees being lopped and floods, waters being cleared around the area.
01:14 So the SES are urging people to stay vigilant but they are expecting a very wet Christmas for many.
