Cole Palmer Admits He 'Can't Stop Seeing' Viral Video of Him Singing Jamaican Reggae Dancehall Song

Chelsea star Cole Palmer has admitted he keeps seeing a viral video of him singing Jamaican reggae as his profile soars following his superb start to life at Stamford Bridge.
Palmer has hit the ground running since joining Chelsea for £42.5million in the summer from Manchester City, scoring four goals and providing four assists in 11 matches.
The midfielder's start has been rewarded with a call-up to Gareth Southgate's England squad, with his elevation from the Under-21s coming after he scored a stoppage-time equalizer against his former club in a dramatic 4-4 draw.
Palmer was asked at an England press conference about a viral clip of him singing a Jamaican reggae dancehall song Clarks by Vybz Kartel.
He revealed his sister had encouraged him to feature in the video, which includes his boots displaying the St. Kitts flag, with the clip now repeatedly shared by fans when he performs well for Chelsea.
‘Me and my sister was in the house one day and there was a TikTok trend going around, people were singing songs and stuff,' Palmer said.
‘My sister said “Come and sing this song”, so I was like “Alright sweet will do”.
‘Because on my boots it has the St. Kitts flag and the England flag, my sister wanted to make sure the St. Kitts flag got in.
‘She posted it and it stayed quiet for a while to be fair and then one day I saw it everywhere and now I can’t stop seeing it.’
Palmer previously revealed he has the St Kitts flag on his boots as a tribute to his dad Jermaine and his family, who are from the Caribbean nation.
The Chelsea and England star said his father, a former footballer, played a major role in his early development as a player.
‘Without my dad, I probably wouldn’t be a footballer,’ Palmer said.
‘He did numerous hours with me every night, working with me to try and make me a professional footballer. And yeh I am trying to repay him as much as I can.
‘I got the message about my England call-up right after the match. My phone was going crazy as I have City fans who are my mates and I have family and stuff.
‘But then I read it and read it again. It was confirmed. I rang my dad straight away and he was with my mum so I told them. They were buzzing.’
In an article for the Players Tribune last year, Palmer referred to his dad as being 'Pep [Guardiola] before I met Pep.'
Palmer credited his father for his becoming obsessed with football and helping him learn to use his skill despite being small for his age at the youth level.
He will be hoping to make his England debut during the international break, with Southgate's side facing Malta and North Macedonia in their final Euro 2024 qualifiers.
