00:00 To reduce the audiovisual industry's carbon footprint, film crews must go that extra mile
00:05 before, during and after filming.
00:08 But changing the way we think about filmmaking is just as important, as Susana Bialikova
00:13 from the Slovak Film Commission told Smart Regions.
00:17 It's much easier to change the mindset of filmmakers than the policy makers.
00:23 It's a long process and it doesn't happen in one day, but throughout the duration of
00:30 the project, we managed to change the mindset of both filmmakers and policy makers.
00:38 Eureka is a tool that helps measure the carbon footprint of each film production.
00:47 It's a tool that is also available at no cost.
00:50 Also the audiovisual fund, the Slovak Film Commission offers some kind of financial bonus,
00:55 but it's a pretty new one for the filmmakers that decide to shoot according to the guidelines.
01:02 How much is it?
01:04 5,000 euros.
01:05 In many European countries, UK is way ahead, Belgium is quite ahead, in this France, they
01:17 have these other tools that also were in place before green screen, so these are the countries
01:23 that already work this way and they find it more natural.
01:27 So this was also the meaning of the partnership, that the stronger partner can help the partner
01:32 that doesn't have that much experience in this field.
