In Queensland's charred Western Downs region, the fire emergency has moved on to a recovery effort, while elsewhere the crisis is continuing. Nearly 60 dangerous fires are burning from the Tropics down to the Gold Coast Hinterland. Tensions remain high as conditions remain erratic.
