The accident that claimed the life of a young spectator occurred near the small village of Kourahoye, Guinea, 25 kilometers after Labè where the thirteenth stage Labé-Tambacounda of the Lisbon-Dakar 2006 had started.

The OSC Oscar #420 driven by Marius Saukans-Andris Dambis from Latvia, went out of control, struck and killed a 10-year-old boy named Boubacar Diallo, who was watching the rally with his family. According to different sources, he was 12-year-old; this has not yet been clarified.

The OSC is a car manufacturer located in Latvia. Founder of the company was the former Latvian rally driver Andris Dambis.

This was the second of three fatal accidents which happened during the Lisbon-Dakar 2006. First was Australian rider Andy Caldecott to be killed during the 9th stage. Two day after the death of Boubacar Diallo, another 12-year-old boy Mohamed N'Daw of Senegal, was struck by an assistance truck during the 14th stage of the rally.

To honor the two child spectators who were killed during the race, the organizers decided that 15th stage of the 2006 Lisbon-Dakar Rally was untimed.
