A young girl with cerebral palsy overcame her insecurities to be the flower girl at her aunt's wedding.

Ruby Cochrane, three, was born ten weeks premature and suffers from cerebral palsy - making it difficult for her to walk without an aid.

Ruby can't walk without a walker and according to mum Stephanie Cochrane, 37, when out in public "people stare" at Ruby.

As a result, Ruby, feels very insecure about walking in front of people.

But last year, the young girl overcame her insecurities and walked down the aisle as the flower girl at her aunt's wedding.

Ruby's aunt and uncle, whose names were withheld, wanted Ruby to be the flower girl at their wedding and her two brothers Jack and Josh, both five, to be page boys.

Stephanie, a stay-at-home mum from Melbourne, Australia, said: "They [Ruby's aunt and uncle] are very close with Ruby.

"They have no other kids and Ruby absolutely loves them."

Ruby was very anxious about walking down the aisle in front of the wedding guests and worried she wouldn't make it to the end.

Stephanie said: "She was very nervous about it because when we're in public we get stares. She doesn't like being looked at like that.

With the help of her two brothers, who held onto her walker all the way down to the aisle, Ruby was able to finish the walk.

Stephanie said: "Ruby was worried that they wouldn't make it to the end but they did it. Her brothers really helped her do it.

"In the end she loved it. She actually enjoyed the people looking at her this time.

"This has really boosted her confidence walking, she held her head a little higher after that."
