‘Goring’ enhances ‘habagat’ as it heads out of PH

Super typhoon Goring (international name: Saola) may continue to enhance the effect of the southwest monsoon, or “habagat,” and bring rains to the western parts of Luzon and Visayas over the next three days, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Wednesday, Aug. 30.

In its 11 a.m. bulletin, PAGASA said Goring was last spotted 125 kilometers west-southwest of Basco, Batanes, and was moving west-northwest at a speed of 15 kilometers per hour (kph) toward the West Philippine Sea.
