    Jazzgirl, thank you for your appreciation! I like the Dodds version a lot too, but i agree this orchestral arrangement is brilliant - all records pianist Carroll Gibbons made were outstanding (I refer to my post of Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue by the British Bert Firman Band with Gibbons as the soloist). Thank you for sending me the link to the footage! I'll definitely have to take a look.

    Great song I have liked since I first heard it as a kid. The first version I heard was Johnny Dodds Black Bottom Stompers on an old Vocalion 78. I love the hot piano solo on this Savoy Orpheans version which I hadn't heard before. Thanks for posting this song I like so much! There is a very good version of a band playing this number on film from a Vitaphone short called "Night Court":
