During summertime in Japan the sea can suddenly glow up bright blue. The light emitted by the waves can be very bright, almost blinding. What causes this mysterious light? And how does glowing water look under a microscope? The creatures we find are called Noctiluca scintillans. They are unicellular microorganisms called Dinoflagellates.
