Occasional rains from enhanced ‘habagat’ to persist in parts of Luzon, Visayas

The southwest monsoon, or “habagat,” enhanced by typhoon Chedeng (international name Guchol) may continue to bring occasional rains over the western parts of Luzon and Visayas, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Sunday, June 11.

A heavy rainfall outlook was issued for several Luzon and Visayas areas, with light to occasional heavy or intense rains expected over the next three days.

The strengthening of the southwest monsoon over the next two days may also result in gusty conditions over several areas, particularly along the coast and in upland/mountainous areas exposed to winds.

'Chedeng' is expected to leave the country’s area of responsibility between Sunday night, June 11, and early Monday morning, June 12.
