Super typhoon Mawar may induce ‘habagat’ rains

Although there is a possibility that it will not hit land, the super typhoon off the Pacific Ocean will strengthen the southwest monsoon, locally called “habagat,” which could bring rains to some parts of the country by weekend, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Wednesday, May 24.
