Reaching out to 25 million owners of mixed-breed dogs, the American Mutt-i-grees Club, a program of the Pet Savers Foundation, the development arm of the Animal League, encourages shelter adoptions as the right choice, and discourages purchases from pet stores supplied by the inhumane puppy mill trade. Three public service announcements each highlight the mission of this life-saving initiative. TV and film Actress Kathryn Erbe, who adopted her mixed-breed dog from a shelter, serves as AMC spokesperson. Teen actor Josh Flitter, aka, Ace Ventura Jr: Pet Detective, reaches out to the next generation, speaking for Mutt-i-grees Cares, the AMC kid’s component. Lomax, the PBS Hound of Music, joins in as spokesdog for this noble effort. (Muttigrees.org)
