Murder probe launched after man stabbed to death in trendy city suburb

Police are hunting a knifeman after a man was stabbed to death on a high street in a trendy city suburb.

Emergency services were called to High Street, in Kings Heath, Birmingham, after the victim was found with stab wounds at around 2.25am today (Wed).

Despite the efforts of paramedics he was confirmed dead at the scene near the junction with Queensbridge Road next to Highbury Park.

West Midlands Police has now launched a murder investigation and urged anyone with information to get in touch.

A force spokesperson said: "A murder investigation is under way after a man was fatally stabbed in Kings Heath this morning.

"We were called to High Street, near the junction with Queensbridge Road, just before 2.25am after a man suffered serious injuries.

"Despite the best efforts of emergency services he was confirmed dead at the scene.

"A cordon is currently in place while we carry out investigations into why this happened and who was responsible.

"We thank everyone for their patience while we do so."
