The giant panda is one of the rarest animals on Earth. There are believed to be fewer than two-thousand of them in the wild. They mostly live in a few mountain ranges of south-central China. Each year - the authorities there carry out a survey to better understand them and their habits. The BBC's Tim Allman reports.
