Kiernan Forbes, also known as South African rapper AKA, was shot and killed outside of a restaurant in Durban on February 10, 2023. He was 35 years old. His parents Tony and Lynn Forbes confirmed his death in an emotional statement on social media.
Police say that AKA had been walking to his car in a popular nightlife area of the coastal city shortly after 10 p.m. when two armed suspects approached him and shot him at close range. His friend Tebello Motsoane, a 34-year-old chef, was also fatally shot during the incident.
