  • last year
A police standoff with a man who has barricaded himself inside his 13th floor flat and refused to leave has been ongoing for a third day. Officers were called to Pioneer House, in Coventry, West Mids., on Friday (6/1) following reports a resident had been seen on his balcony. Specialist police negotiators have been since trying to talk the 50-year-old man down but so far have been unsuccessful after he barricaded himself inside. Other residents living on the same floor of the tower block have been relocated while officers try to bring the incident to a safe conclusion. A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: “We’re currently at Pioneer House in Coventry where a man is on the balcony of his 13th floor flat and we have concerns for his welfare. “The 50-year-old has barricaded himself into the property since Friday and force negotiators are speaking with him to ensure his safety. “Several residents from the same floor have been temporarily relocated while the incident is on-going. “We apologise for the inconvenience this may cause but our priority is the safety of the man involved.”
