Fans Slam Veteran Blues Striker for 'Nicking a Living' as He's Subbed Off in 1-0 Defeat by Man City

Fans have taken to social media to criticize Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after his dismal performance against Manchester City on Thursday evening.

Aubameyang started Chelsea's tie against City on the bench but made his way onto the pitch after just five minutes as Raheem Sterling was forced off injured.

However, Graham potter was less than impressed with the 33-year-old's performance and decided to replace him with Omari Hutchinson in the second half.

Chris Sutton, co-commentating on BBC 5 Live, was as equally disappointed with Aubameyang's performance.

He said: 'I thought Aubameyang was hopeless in truth, offered very little. The Aubameyang substitution is telling, it's embarrassing. He's been hauled off and rightly so.'

Fans were also quick to react to Potter's decision, taking to social media to say Aubameyang's career was well and truly over.

One fan wrote: 'Been coming to be fair. Chelsea playing with 10 men with Aubameyang.' Another one added: 'Aubameyang should announce his retirement from football Biko.'

While one fan agreed, saying: 'This is Aubameyang’s career is over man, brought on as a sub and hooked when his team needs a goal'.

Another fan ripped into the striker, saying: Aubameyang has been nicking a living. The sub has been subbed off.'

While one wrote: 'Not a particularly glowing endorsement of what Graham Potter thinks of Aubameyang that - sub being subbed'.

One supporter spoke about the striker's fall from stardom. They said: 'The fall of Aubameyang truly is something hey... Man looks like a shell of his former self, I guess that ego he always carried hasn't paid off this time... Imagine being a sub and then being subbed!'.

Others simply laughed at Aubameyang and shared memes of him walking off the pitch looking frustrated.

Aubameyang has endured a difficult time at Chelsea. The former Arsenal captain left Barcelona to join the west London club in a £ 10 million deal on transfer deadline day.

He struggled to prove his worth after arriving at Stamford Bridge. However, he did score in Chelsea's wins over Crystal Palace and AC Milan before Christmas.

Nevertheless, the 33-year-old is said to be keen on moving to PSG if Chelsea leaves the door open for him to leave.

It is said that the Ligue 1 giants have already opened talks with Aubameyang ahead of a possible transfer next summer.

A move to PSG would see the striker link up with Christophe Galtier, who managed Aubameyang during their time in charge of Saint-Etienne.
