Chris Adler switched to Mapex Drums since 2004 and Received his Custom 5.5x12 Black Panther Walnut Wood Snare Drum since 2005 (The Original 2005 Version has Gold Hardware instead of Black Nickel or Black Chrome). Find '14" Cup-size Snare' Too Much = Chris Adler was using 2 Mapex 14" Black Panther Metal Snare Drums back in 2004, One is 5.5x14 Brass and the Other is 6.5x14 Phosphor Bronze.
And I think Chris Adler's Signature 5.5x12 Black Panther Walnut Wood Snare Drum was the 2nd Time Mapex does an Artist's Snare Drum. I believe the 1st Time Mapex does an Artist's Snare Drum was an Carmine Appice Signature 5.5x14 Brass Metal Snare Drum back in the 1990s.
