11-year-old boy rescued from stormwater drain in Melbourne

A 11-year-old boy who was trapped in a stormwater drain in Melbourne’s south-west yesterday says he feared for his life before being rescued. Jake Gilbert was riding his bike with his friend Kai through swirling floodwater in Altona when he was sucked underwater and through pipes. He got stuck underneath the grating of the flooded drain. Emergency services quickly got him out and he's physically fine except for some cuts and scratches. But Jake who's still in hospital says the ordeal was terrifying.
