Diwali, the festival of lights, is celebrated with great enthusiasm across the country. The five-day festival starts with Dhanteras and ends with Govardhan Puja. Many also celebrate Govatsa Dwadashi or Vasu Baras one day before Dhanteras i.e. on October 21st this year. In 2022, Diwali will be celebrated on October 24. Govatsa Dwadashi is celebrated on the day before Dhanteras. Dhanteras or Dhantrayodashi is celebrated as the first day of the five-day festival of Deepavali. Kali Chaudas is mainly observed in Gujarat. Third day of Diwali is celebrated as Narak Chaturdashi. It is also known as Choti Diwali. However, this year, the celebration falls on the same day as the main Diwali celebration in North India. Lakshmi Puja will also be conducted on October 24. Fourth day of the Diwali 2022 celebration will revolve around the observance of Diwali Devpuja. Last day of Diwali is celebrated as Govardhan Puja.
