Malaysia authorities have made a record seizure of wildlife parts including rare elephant tusks, rhino horns and pangolin scales. The alleged smuggling attempt was revealed on July 10, 2022, when customs officials found the haul worth nearly US$18 million hidden in a shipment of timber at Port Klang. There have been no arrests yet, and investigations continue following the seizure at the nation’s largest port southwest of Kuala Lumpur.
