The battle continues to ensure children who are born abroad to Malaysian mothers are recognised as citizens of our country. This despite last September’s landmark ruling by the High Court, which declared that Malaysian women and men are supposed to have equal rights to confer citizenship on their overseas-born children. Melisa Idris speaks to Patricia Low, a freelance writer and a Malaysian mother fighting to confer her citizenship to her children born in Dublin, where they were based for her husband’s work.
