The Gimp Man of Essex makes a return as he continues his charity-raising efforts

A man dubbed "The Gimp Man of Essex" has returned to the streets of Colchester after going viral in the pandemic. Going under an online moniker of Robert Jubbly, The Gimp Man of Essex plans to raise £1000 for the charity Mind in mid and north-east Essex. Footage shows Jubbly walking along Long Wyre Street in the town centre clad in the skin-hugging rubber suit as shoppers walk by seemingly oblivious. The Gimp Man of Essex went viral during the Covid-19 pandemic after he documented himself shopping in Tesco dress in the gimp suit. Jubbly encourages people to take pictures whether it be a sneaky snap or an outright selfie together. He says he doesn't do this to scare people and he "doesn't bite" and "doesn't break any laws" - he simply does this for fun and to attract attention. He told SWNS: "I'm a normal guy who just likes wearing the suit, it's a bit of an escape for me." He said that during his tenure as The Gimp Man of Essex, he has raised close to £3000 for local mental health charities. Gimp Man even donates a pound to the cause whenever anybody posts of a photo of him online from his wanderings around the area. He later explained that nobody in his personal life knows about his escapades and feels like he's "on thin ice", especially with his online posts. Despite this, he wants to dispel stereotypes of gimp suits as being "pervy" or being worn by people for the wrong reasons. Gimp Man voiced his vehement opposition and anger towards the man in a gimp suit who terrorised a woman in the village of Claverham at night in 2019 but has recently made a comeback. He said that he is conscious of people being uncomfortable with what he does in public and is a "good judge of character" and he happily avoids people that appear to be uncomfortable. He also added that he goes out in public during school time as not to cause any controversy surrounding being seen by kids. He explained that "99 percent of people have a positive reaction", meaning The Gimp Man will continue to roam the streets of Essex in the tight-fitting suit and keep on trying to raise cash for charity.
