L'Aube nouvelle est l'hymne national du Bénin. Son texte est écrit par l'abbé Gilbert Dagnon, avec la participation de Jean Pliya et de Marcelin Gaba. Il est mis en musique par l'abbé Gilbert Dagnon, et adopté à l'indépendance de la République du Dahomey en 19601.
Quand, en 1975, le Dahomey est rebaptisé en République populaire du Bénin, l'hymne national est conservé, mais les occurrences des mots Dahomey et Dahoméen sont remplacées dans le texte, respectivement, par Bénin et Béninois2, ce qui explique que certains de ces alexandrins comptent à présent onze syllabes.

"L'Aube Nouvelle" ("The Dawn of a New Day") is the national anthem of Benin. Written and composed by Father Gilbert Jean Dagnon, it was adopted upon independence of the Republic of Dahomey from France in 1960.
After Dahomey became the People's Republic of Benin in 1975, the anthem was retained, but the words Dahomey and Dahoméen were changed to Bénin and Béninois.
