How sci-fi video game sound is made for 'Halo Infinite'
Ever wondered how video games get their sound effects? We go behind the scenes of Halo, one of the world's most popular first-person shooter games, to find out how the game builds its immersive sound.

Creating the sound effects for the latest release, Halo Infinite, brought Halo's sound design team to destinations as far-flung as Tasmania, an airport runway, and a vintage farm machinery heritage site.

Lead sound designer Kyle Fraser and senior sound designers Robbie Elias and Jomo Kangethe break down the creative Foley and field recording techniques they use to capture and distort real-world sounds that they can then use out of context in the game.

They walk us through the sound effects for vehicles, weapons, and destruction in the game, along with the detailed ambience and environmental sound for the multiplayer maps.

Halo Infinite is available now with Xbox Game Pass.
