History was created on July 17th of 2019, when a motion to amend the Federal Constitution to lower the voting age to 18, was passed by more than two-thirds of the majority and overwhelming bipartisan support.Despite promises to implement the Constitutional amendment by July this year, the Election Commission now says lowering the voting age and automatic voter registration can only be implemented by Sept 1st of 2022.
