Around 12 people were killed and 13 other injured, after a stampede occurred at Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine in Katra, Jammu on January 1. The injured have been taken to Naraina Hospital after the rescue. 

“12 dead in the stampede at Mata Vaishno Devi shrine in Katra. Casualties from Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, and 1 from Jammu and Kashmir; more details awaited. Injured being taken to Naraina Hospital after rescue,” said Dr Gopal Dutt, Block medical officer, Community health.
