Begging no longer illegal in Delhi

Delhi High court decriminalised the Prevention of Begging Act, 1960 on 8th August 2018. The law was an extension of Mumbai’s anti-begging law which came was adopted by Delhi High Court in 1960. The order was passed after hearing two PILs against the law. Karnika Seth, one of the two PIL pleaders and a High Court lawyer, talks about her journey of her litigation towards decriminalising the law and raising awareness about the fundamental rights of the state’s beggars.
