Lokmat Maharashtrian of the Year Awards 2017 - Shri Devendra Fadnavis was given the award for the category "Political Transformer" for his distinguished leadership skills as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra.
Shri. Devendra Gangadhar Fadnavis, born on 22nd July 1970 is now the 18th Chief Minister of Maharashtra. He became the youngest Mayor of Nagpur municipal corporation. In 1999, he was elected to the Maharashtra state assembly for the first time. He is currently serving his fourth term as MLA as of 2014. Fadnavis was selected the legislative party leader by the new BJP MLAs in a meeting at Vidhan Bhavan in the presence of party's central observers, Union Home minister and party's national general secretary. Fadnavis was sworn in as the chief minister of Maharashtra from the BJP on 31 October 2014. 2016-17 saw the rise of brand Fadnavis as clean & credible. He made sure BJP flag flies high by winning 8 out of 10 corporation.
