Rahul Gandhi, P Chidambaram Slam Modi Govt's National Monetisation Plan, Call It 'Grand Bargain Sale' Of India's Strategic Assets
  • 3 years ago
On August 24, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi slammed the PM Modi-led government’s National Monetisation Pipeline. Gandhi alleged that this decision would help \"2-3 private players.” He said that this privatisation list busts the Bharatiya Janata Party’s claim that 70 years of rule by the Congress had seen no development. Congress said that the Modi-led government is selling these assets just to cover up the mismanagement of the economy. Coming down hard on PM Narendra Modi, Gandhi said \"only a few businesses will be left\" as a result of it and employment opportunities would go down. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, on August 23, unveiled the Rs 6 lakh crore monetisation plan. Former Finance Minister, P Chidambaram called it a “grand bargain sale, and a grand closing-down sale.” Congress Leader Shashi Tharoor tweeted, “At least now, BJP should acknowledge that national assets were created since independence by successive Congress governments.”
