The centenarian maid of Rairahol royal family is no more. Shankari Bai, passed away after a life of neglect and loneliness in her twilight years. Shankari Bai, who was over 100 years old, was once living in the royal palace.
She was popularly known as Dasi Shankari Bai, due to her devoted service. During the last days of her life, Shankari Bai was sheltered by Rabi Narayan Sahu who also conducted her last rites. to the royal family of Rairakhol. Shankari Bai had come into the royal family accompanying princess Kanak Devi of Gujarat royal family, who married Prince Satya Narayan Deb of Rairakhol royal family. And since then all the responsibilities of the royal palace was on her.
But after the end of kingship, she became unwanted. She slipped into poverty and became homeless as years passed. Just before her demise, she spoke to OTV in August 2020, and had said she has no one to call her own in her life. I just want a roof over my head & some food, she had said.
During the last days of her life, Shankari Bai was sheltered by Rabi Narayan Sahu who also conducted her last rites.
