India reported 62,258 coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours, the highest single-day rise so far this year. With fresh cases, the nationwide Covid-19 tally has mounted to 1,19,08,910, according to the Union Health Ministry's data released on Saturday.

India's active caseload has increased to 4,52,647, while the number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 1,12,95,023.

Meanwhile, the total number of deaths due to the infection increased to 1,61,240 with 291 more fatalities reported in India in the last 24 hours, the ministry said.
